After a week of the top quality street basketball and exciting games, the tournament was over on17th of July. There were 14 teams in men and 9 teams in women competition from 11 countries in total, competing at the Championship. The final duels were played between Serbia and Romania in men and China and Italy in women competition.
The bleachers were full, and the spectators had the opportunity to watch, besides the final matches, contests in skills, dunk, shootout and free throws as well. All of those who made this Championship possible were also present at the final evening: City and University officials, the sponsors, as well as our dear guests, representatives from FISU and FIBA.
As we approach the court during the training of the Israely 3x3 team, we can't help but feel intrigued as the bald older man with glasses, gray beard and a noticeable belly stands a giant among his players - 4 tall young men in their prime - shouting commands as a general and waving his hands as an orchestra conductor. His authority is unquestioned, his knowledge impeccable, his passion uncanny. As he wipes the sweat of his forehead and puts on his cap, carefully as if it was a crown, we come near him just to check if he is satisfied with the championship conditions.
Dogadjaj koji je po mišljenju kragujevačke javnosti proglašen za događaj godine je nedavno završeno Svetsko univerzitetsko prvenstvo u basketu 3 na 3. Pored ucrtavanja na mapu svetski poznatih centara ovog sporta, Kragujevac je dobio i svetske prvake , ekipu Univerziteta u Kragujevcu (Aleksandar Vučković, Ivan Nedeljković, Miloš Blagojević, Stefan Joksović). Ovi momci, svetski prvaci, dobili su nedavno jedno veliko priznanje a to je “wild card” za učešće na masters turniru koji se održava u Istanbulu 1. i 2. septembra.
